There's something really special about getting to show someone where you're from and all the places you love. Firat came to Houston for a short weekend trip and I packed in as much as I could to give him the best of what Houston has to offer in the summer. Below are a few suggestions (and my favorite) things to do in the H.
Drink a beer at Minute Maid
Although I love Houston, I'm still a Yankee fan at heart so there's really nothing better than watching them win against the Astros while drinking a cold one. I downright love going to any sporting event. I get so caught up in all the fun stuff happening off screen. It was Firat's first baseball game (ever!) and first taste of Houston beer, so I'm pretty sure he became a little bit more American that day.
Catch up with friends at The Hay Merchant
One of my favorite spots in Houston to sit down with friends. The beer selection is too good and the outdoor patio is my go to spot.
Find some hidden gems at local flea markets
My obsession with flea markets is ongoing and never ending. The fleas in Houston are just TOO good. I had to bring Firat along to witness the amazing selection and all the great people at these events. The weekend he was here we went to Vintique which had an incredible furniture/homeware selection. Some of my other favorites to venture to are Discovery Green Flea by Night and Rice Village Flea. I'm always on the look out for pop up markets because I'm determined to find all the hidden gems in htown.
Cannot handle how good the gelato is at this spot. Secretly wish that Firat & I didn't share a scoop so I could eat it all myself. We opted for the Spumoni flavor which is now essential to my life. One of the best things about this place is the Houston mural on the outside wall, making it the perfect spot for some photos.
Awesome blog! We love Houston and everything there is to do during the summertime. Do you ever visit North Houston like Spring, Cypress or the surrounding areas? Old Town Spring is a fun place. Stay cool though. It gets pretty hot during the Houston summers. Thanks again for sharing your photos and blog! - Enviromax Services Inc.
